Mission Statement

We teach students the fundamentals of Accounting in order to make them capable to keep bookkeeping records and prepare financial statements on case study level (complexity) along IFRSs and/or HGB. The students should understand the differences between applied GAAPs, i.e. between HGB and IFRSs.

Content

Bookkeeping, balance sheet (incl. subsequent valuation of non-current assets and inventory valuation), income statement, statement of cash flows, statement of changes in equity, notes

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge Broadening
students will learn Accounting along HGB and IFRSs and will deepen their basic knowledge in Accounting
Knowledge Deepening
Students will achieve deepening knowledge in fields of the application of IFRSs and/or HGB, such as subsequent valuations, manufacturing accounting, disclosure of liabilities, revenue recognition etc.
Instrumental Skills and Competences
Students are able to apply different Accounting standards and can discuss differences between HGB and IFRSs. Students can evaluate financial statements of existing corporations.
Communicative Skills and Competences
Students can describe and discuss different Accounting problems along IFRSs and HGB and can describe differences thereof. The can discuss Accounting with experts and non-Accountants, such as engineers for example.
Systemic Skills and Competences
Students can prepare financial statements on a case study level. They further have the capability to increase their knowledge in order to prepare financial statements for real corporations. Students know how to gather information for Accounting and where to receive the newest standards to apply.
