Characteristics
In our S1 GenTSV laboratory, we are able to carry out most of the common biotechnological methods, from upstream (molecular biology) to downstream (protein biochemistry). For this purpose, we work in a laboratory network together with the laboratory for microbiology (S2 according to BioStoffV) and the laboratory for molecular biology. We are open to and look forward to method establishment, optimization, and application-oriented research, especially in the fields of precision fermentation and strain optimization.
We are passionate biotechnologists!
When teaching students in the bachelor's degree program about Bioprocess Engineering in Food Industries, we test and characterize enzymes, work on the microbial production of proteins, and study the biocatalytic production processes of functional ingredients for food. The project and Bachelor's theses are thematically diverse.
Our “pets” are Escherichia coli and Aspergillus niger, but other microorganisms are also welcome.
