Application Period
Please note the upcoming application periods for the Master's program in Design Entrepreneurship. The application process varies depending on where your prior degree was obtained.
All applicants holding a german degree apply directly to Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences between February 1 and April 15. Apply now via the University’s Online Application Portal

Admission Requirements
- Applicants must hold a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in the area of Design or a neighboring discipline that includes a design methodology, such as Computer Science, Information Technology, or Mechanical Engineering. Degree from neighboring disciplines will be assessed by the selection committee on the basis of their design amount of design
- If you have not yet completed your Bachelor studies at the application deadline, you can still apply to the Master program. However, you need to have completed at least 80% of the necessary credits of your Bachelor program at the time of your application. Thus, please make sure your application includes
- an official and current transcript of records showing all your completed courses, including grades
- the total number of credits of your Bachelor program, the percentage of credits / courses you have completed at the time of your application,
- your current, preliminary average grade. This grade will be used for evaluating your application during the selection process, no matter if your final grade will later differ from the preliminary grade.
The Master's program is taught entirely in English. Applicants, therefore, must demonstrate English language proficiency at the B2 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
If your native language is not English, you can demonstrate proficiency by submitting one of the following language tests:
- IELTS (International English Language Testing System) with a minimum score of 5.5
- TOEFL iBT with a minimum score of 72; TOEFL ITP Level 1 with a minimum score of 543
- Cambridge First Certificate + Grade B or C (FCE); Cambridge Preliminary English Test + Result Distinction (PET); Cambridge English: Business Vantage (BEC Vantage), Legal (ILEC), or Financial (ICFE)
- Cambridge IGCSE 1st or 2nd Language with a minimum score of B2
- telc with a minimum score of B2
- UNIcert II
- Pearson PTE Academic with a minimum score of 59
Please note that the test scores should be no older than 3 years at the start of your studies.
If you hold a previous degree that was taught entirely in English, you can submit it in place of a language test.
Application and Admission Procedure
Applicants must submit the following documents as part of their application:
- Application Form
- Please complete your online applicaiton form at Uni-assist (for foreign degree holders) or at the University’s Online Application Portal (for German degree holders).
- Copy of your passport
- Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- In English or German language, including your education and work experience if applicable.
- Proof of your higher education
- University entry qualification, undergraduate degree and transcript of records (for non-german degree holders please provide an explanation of the grading system if this is not evident on your transcripts of records).
- English Language Certificate
- Portfolio
- Applicants are required to submitt a portfolio with showcases their ideas and skills as a designer. Your portfolio must include three (3) examples of a design and development project which you have carried out during your studies or in a professional capacity. Please include an attestation which states that the projects in your portfolio are your own work.
- Please submit your portfolio as a single PDF document along with all other application documents.
Application via uni-assist
- All documents must be uploaded individually as separate PDF files.
- Maximum size per file: 10 MB.
- Upload documents in the specified order (refer to the "Required Documents for Application").
- Upload certified copies of your secondary school leaving diploma, Bachelor Diploma, and university transcripts in their original language, accompanied by a certified translation in German or English.
- Note: Previously uploaded documents cannot be deleted. For updates, upload a newer version; the latest version will be considered.
Direct application via Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences application portal
- Combine all documents into a single PDF file (no ZIP files).
- Name the file as "lastname_firstname".
- Keep the file size under 50 MB.
The M.A. Design Entrepreneurship program admits a maximum of 25 students per year. Applicants are selected on the basis of the following criteria:
- Grade Point Average (GPA) of the applicant's previous degree.
- Portfolio Quality, evaluated on:
- Presentation Skills
- Problem-Solving Abilities
- Innovative Thinking
Uni-assist is the "university application service for international students".
Applicants who have completed their university studies abroad submit their application here. Uni-assist checks whether the academic admission requirements for Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences have been met. However, the decision of whether to admit the prospective student is not made by uni-assist, but by Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences. Uni-assist does not provide information about studying at Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences or about the admission requirements. Uni-assist charges a processing fee for the inspection of application documents and will only begin processing your application once the fee has been paid and all your documents have been submitted to uni-assist. Please use the application form provided by uni-assist for your application.
