How to Apply
Admission requirements
For admission to the Master's program Land Use Transformation, applicants must meet the following requirements:
The Master's program Land Use Transformation is a consecutive program, which is designed to build on the knowledge gained in your previous studies. This is why students must demonstrate a Bachelor's or equivalent degree in agricultural science, nutritional science / home economics, landscape planning, landscape development, geography, environmental engineering, environmental sciences, applied biosciences or another relevant field of study.
If you have not yet completed your Bachelor studies by the application deadline, you can still apply to the Master's program. However, you must have completed at least 80% of the credits of your Bachelor's program at the time of your application. In this case, please make sure your application includes:
- an official and current transcript of records showing all your completed courses, including grades
- the total number of credits in your Bachelor's program and the percentage of credits / courses you have completed at the time of your application
- your current, preliminary average grade. This grade will be used for evaluating your application during the selection process, even if your final grade later differs from the preliminary grade.
Please note: We strongly recommend you complete all of your Bachelor courses and the Bachelor's thesis by the beginning of the first semester in the Master?s program to ensure your success your studies.
All modules of the Master's program Land Use Transformation at University of Applied Sciences Osnabrück are taught in English. Your language proficiency in English is therefore a crucial factor to the success of your studies and one of our admission requirements.
If English is not your native language, you must demonstrate English language proficiency corresponding to at least level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) by submitting a corresponding certificate or passing a written language proficiency test. Test results submitted may not be more than three years old at the start of studies.
Your study competence can be proven with one of the following language tests:

Please note: The above are minimum scores. We do not accept any scores below these.
In individual cases, other certificates can be accepted as a proof of your study competence in English:
- If your Bachelor's program was instructed entirely in English, you do not need to submit further proof of your language proficiency. Please ensure that the application you submit provides us with sufficient proof from your home university that your Bachelor was taught completely in English.
- If you have studied at a German university: A certificate or other proof from your university clearly stating your English proficiency according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) (min. B2) or a DAAD language certificate from the university can be accepted.

Selection Process
If there are more applicants who meet the admission requirements than there are places available, a selection committee allocates the available study places according to a ranking list.
Ranking points are awarded for:
- the final grade of the Bachelor’s (or comparable) degree (max. 85 points)
- relevant work experience (max. 6 points),
- work or study experience abroad (max. 6 points),
- higher levels of English proficiency (max. 2 points) and/or
- merit-based scholarships (max. 1 point).
Application Period and Process
There are two application periods for the Master Land Use Transformation at Osnabrück University of Applied Science.
When and where you apply depends on where your Bachelor's degree documents were issued.
Applications for Summer Semester 2026:
- Applicants with foreign degree documents* apply via uniassist: September 1st to December 15th, 2025
- Applicants with German degree documents apply directly: September 1st, 2025 to January 15th, 2026
Applications for Winter Semester 2026/27:
- Applicants with foreign degree documents* apply via uniassist: March 1st to June 15th, 2026
- Applicants with German degree documents apply directly: March 1st to July 15th, 2026
*If you are an applicant with foreign documents who has previously applied to Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences via uniassist, you may be able to apply directly. Please contact us to discuss your individual case.
Please note that we can only evaluate complete online applications in the selection process, incomplete applications cannot be considered and will be rejected.
