Kurzbeschreibung

Students are able to grasp the theoretical and practical implications of strategic human resource and volunteer management, and apply them to the practical context of the nonprofit-sector.

  1. Introduction to human resources management in the NPO sector 1.1 Distinction between human resources administration and human resources management 1.2. Trends in human resources management in the third sector 1.3. Definition and distinction between full-time employees and volunteers
  2. Leading and motivating full-time employees and volunteers 2.1. Leadership of volunteers as opposed to full-time employees 2.3. Motivation theories and their application in the NPO sector 2.4. Motivating volunteers 2.5. Social entrepreneurs as new leaders in the NPO sector
  3. Recruitment and retention of volunteers
  4. Human resources development for full-time employees and volunteers
  5. Employer branding

Students who have successfully completed this module are familiar with the various methods of strategic human resources and volunteer management.

Wissensvertiefung

Students possess a comprehensive knowledge of the issues of full-time and voluntary work in the NPO sector; they have acquired an understanding of the different approaches required for these two groups.

Students can assess the extent to which business models and theories can be adapted to the non-profit sector, as well as critically question existing methods.

Students who have successfully completed this module are able to transfer methods of strategic human resources and volunteer management to examples of application in the enterprise.
