- Wissensverbreiterung
Students expand their knowledge of scientific methodology and the use of social science theories on the basis of current issues and problems or research projects and/or their own work. They also learn about specific challenges posed by research projects.
- Wissensvertiefung
Students learn a basic understanding of scientific reasoning and evidence, and practice their knowledge transfer skills for combining the basics of social science (theories, concepts) and empirical use cases. They also deepen their knowledge of research logics and empirical methods.
- Wissensverst?ndnis
Students evaluate their previous research experience or knowledge of scientific work. Based on the content of this module, they reflect on the requirements for successful research projects.
- Nutzung und Transfer
Students are able to independently develop concepts for research projects, and have a clear conception of the scientific, specialist, and organisational challenges of such a project.
- Wissenschaftliche Innovation
By developing topics and research questions, students explore new perspectives that demonstrate scientific and societal relevance.
- Kommunikation und Kooperation
Students improve their ability to reason scientifically.
- Wissenschaftliches Selbstverst?ndnis / Professionalit?t
The criteria and standards of good scientific practice are a key element of the module that is repeatedly used as a benchmark to reinforce the student’s scientific self-image.
- Literatur
The reading material depends on the focus of the research workshop in that semester, and its content. Students also receive individual reading suggestions, depending on the thematic focus of their research project.
- Zusammenhang mit anderen Modulen
The module builds on students’ experience from previous modules where they developed their own projects. It adds to this content all the important facets that are relevant for research projects, preparing students to work on their respective Master thesis. At the same time, the module sustains the application orientation by enabling specific research projects to be developed in the form of a research workshop.
